policy has  resulted in yet another death
– this time of a 10 year old boy.


Kua Dom,  was rushed to
the private hospital  by his mother on
the 3rd of January  following
severe stomach pains but staff at the hospital refused to treat  the boy 
because the money  his mother had
on hand at the time of the  emergency was
insufficient.

RD TUNA DUMPSITE - Currently, Madang has only one fish cannery owned and operated by Filipino Company, RD Tuna.  The previous   government led by Somare  was pushing for 10 more canneries   to be placed  near this area.  If these are the kind of  images  we get to see from just one cannery, imagine the impact 10 more will have  on the local community.

that  Australia’s involvement in Papua
New Guinea   only serves their  purpose.

THE government will restore the rights of landowners to challenge in court any decisions on projects they feel could be detrimental to the environment.
To facilitate this, the National Executive Council recently agreed to repeal the Environment (Amendment) Act 2010 which had denied them this right.

THE time frame of three-months for the Commission of Inquiry into SABL ends on October 21, but so much has yet to be done.
The enormous number of irregularies discovered in many of the SABLs during preliminary findings as part of Terms of Reference (TOR) has seen 75 cases now before the Commission of Inquiry.

THE parties completed their final submissions 23 March 2011 before Justice Cannings in the National Court in Madang.
The trial commenced on 9 and evidence was completed 23 February 2011.  Expert witnesses for the both the Plaintiffs and Defendants came from overseas for the trial and gave evidence. After evidence, the Court adjourned to 23 March 2011 for final submissions.

Since the previous Land Title Commissioner, Patrick Nasa’s passing in June 2009, nothing has been done till today, and the landowners are left in chaos to deal with the mine and police themselves.
